About TASB

The TASB Project involves 10 schools from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Involvement in the project will include the following at each school:

1. For 2-4 teachers new to teaching maths or science, interviews for each of the three years of the project include:

  • an ‘individual’ interview in the first half of each year;
  • a ‘joint’ interview with a mentor or support teacher for the new subject in the first half of each year; and
  • a ‘reflective’ interview in the second half of each year following viewing of a video of their practice in their science and/or maths class.
2. For school leadership, leading teachers and discipline heads: An initial examination of context in the first six months of year 1 through the following face to face focus-group interviews:

  • the school principal and timetabler; and
  • mathematics and science discipline leaders and other leading teachers.
3. For school participation:

  • A Workshop in Year 2 will be held at each school to allow for further discussion between school staff and to allow some reporting of research findings.
  • One Roundtable will be held in each of Victoria and NSW in year 3 to allow for across-school collaboration and conversation around the issues and project findings.

Participants may be involved in more than one data event.
